AVI can hold different codecs. Older players may limit resolution, frame rate or audio. Check your player's documentation instead of assuming that every AVI will play.
Before conversion, trim the beginning or end, rotate a recording or crop unwanted edges. Preserve the aspect ratio when resizing, especially when moving between widescreen recordings and older displays. Edits that alter the picture require encoding.
Open a converted sample in the intended player or editor. Check picture shape, movement and sound. When the settings work, save a custom preset for the remaining files.
Open the Suite, add your recording and inspect its source information. Keep the original file for future use.
Find AVI in the output browser. Adjust compatible codec, frame size, frame rate and audio settings for the destination.
Create a sample and check it on the intended player. Select an output folder and convert your full video.
| Option | When to choose it | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| AVI output | A player or application specifically requires AVI. | Match the supported codec, frame size and audio. |
| Smaller dimensions | The player rejects high-resolution recordings. | Keep the aspect ratio and test the picture. |
| Keep MP4 | The destination already accepts the original file. | Avoid an unnecessary extra encoding step. |

Output size depends on duration, video and audio bitrate, codec and quality settings. Changing the container name alone does not determine file size.
