Common inputs include MP4, M4V, AVI, WMV, MOV, MKV, WebM, MPG/MPEG, FLV and 3GP. Output choices include MP4, AVI, WMV, MOV, MKV, MPG, WebM and 3GP/3G2. Choose a format family, then select a preset for its codec, resolution and quality.
MP4 with H.264 is a useful starting point for everyday playback. Use AVI, WMV or MPEG when your player or editing workflow calls for one of those formats. For a phone with specific requirements, check its supported codec and resolution as well as the file extension.
Keep the section you need, crop the picture or adjust output resolution and bitrate. The compression controls let you set a size target, and a short converted sample helps you judge the result before processing a longer video. Smaller files can lose detail; the final size depends on the settings and source.
Add several files or a folder to the queue and choose output settings for the batch or individual items. Select MP3, WAV, FLAC or another audio preset when you want the soundtrack without a video picture.

AVI is a supported input, but the codec inside the file also matters. Try an older AVI or DivX-encoded file before converting a batch. The current output presets include AVI with MPEG-4 video; a separate DivX-branded encoder is not listed.
Re-encoding can change quality. Use an appropriate resolution and quality setting and check a short sample. Compatible streams can be copied with eligible presets, but changes such as resizing, filtering or changing codecs require encoding.
