Match the resolution to the source
Keep original dimensions or choose 720p, 1080p, 1440p or 4K. A smaller output can suit a smaller display. Increasing resolution changes pixel dimensions; it does not recover missing detail.

Keep original dimensions or choose 720p, 1080p, 1440p or 4K. A smaller output can suit a smaller display. Increasing resolution changes pixel dimensions; it does not recover missing detail.
Use Compress file to estimate output size, then refine quality, bitrate or a size target. Compare a sample: stronger compression can soften detail and introduce artifacts.
Output settings offer letterboxing, cropping and stretching. Keep the aspect ratio when resizing a landscape, portrait or older 4:3 recording. Use the editor to crop unwanted edges or rotate a sideways clip before conversion.
Inspect an encoded sample for detail, movement and sound. Frame-rate and HDR settings depend on the chosen format. Keep the source frame rate unless your destination requires a change.
Open the Suite and add a video. Review its dimensions, frame rate and duration in the file information.
Select an MP4 or device preset, then keep original dimensions or choose the resolution your playback device needs.
Adjust compression if needed, convert a sample, and check it. Choose your output folder and convert the full file.
| Option | When to choose it | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Keep original size | Retain the dimensions of an existing HD recording. | Confirm the player supports the chosen video codec. |
| 720p or 1080p | Prepare a smaller copy for everyday viewing. | Inspect text, faces and motion in a sample. |
| Target file size | Work toward a storage or sharing limit. | The final size may differ slightly from your target. Check the finished file before sending it. |
Yes, when the source can be decoded. Choose a 1080p output preset and inspect the aspect ratio and sample before conversion.
A resolution preset alone cannot restore missing detail. The Suite also has a separate local AI upscaling tool with a real preview; its results depend on the source.
You can set a target size, but the finished file may differ slightly from it. Check the result before sending it through a service with an upload limit.
Local-file conversion runs on your PC. Online sources, component updates and the AI tool's first model download require internet access.
Choose your HD output and check the result before the full conversion.
